Data can truly set us free. It allows us to know our audience, our customers, to implement target marketing, and provide an overall better customer experience. It brings companies and consumers together, the same way the Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal.

There’s not an official holiday to celebrate data (yet!), but as we toast to our nation’s birthday, we at Cognetik can’t help but reflect on and celebrate data liberation and the freedom to access and analyze clean data!

“I love my freedom to access data and information. It empowers me to be able to learn anything- whenever and wherever I want. I’m able to succeed with less occurrences of failure by learning from others, even those not directly in my life.”

Mike Plant, Senior Analytics Engineer

“As Forrest Gump would say, data is like putting together a box of chocolates. Not only can you determine exactly which chocolates to put in the box, but it tells you how you can improve to make them even better.”

Jesse Jencsik, Analytics Engineer

“Good data allows me to think less about figuring out what is happening and allows me to think more about how to improve.”

– Parker Smith, Senior Digital Analyst

“Good data, trustworthy data creates flow! It allows me to make smart decisions, to adapt, and to develop. Bad data? Well that’s a whole different story!”

Andrei Bulzan, Operations Manager

“With access to data, we are free from reacting and planning based on emotion. We can deliver insights independent of bias or preference.”

– Joey Nachinson, Senior Analytics Engineer

“Access to and understanding of data makes me feel empowered to make a difference in achieving my goals and inspires and challenges me to continually learn so I can make a difference.”

Jeremy Linhardt, Senior Analytics Engineer

“Having access to data is a fundamental step in knowing how to interpret and ultimately make business decisions. Without access, we can’t fully be independent and free to use data for which it was made.”

Matt Strobel, Senior Analytics Engineer

“I think data is revealing. Access to data enables users to freely and independently develop hypotheses that could either aid in driving the desired outcomes of a business or prevent the negative ones from continuing.”

Spencer Dietrich, Senior Digital Analyst

And finally, we’ll leave you with this patriotic send-off from Analytics Manager Dan Cummings,  which may or may not be eerily similar to the speech Bill Pullman, aka President Thomas J. Whitmore, gave in Independence Day.

Perhaps it’s fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from inaccuracy, uncertainty, or data bias, but from ignorance. We’re fighting for our right to know, to analyze.  And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the business world declared in one voice:

We will not work blindly into the night!

We will not ignore evidence without an explanation!

We’re going to continue to learn!

We’re going to know!”

Today, we celebrate our Data Independence Day!

Have a safe and Happy 4th of July from us at Cognetik!
